It's been nine months since it was revealed that Tiger Woods was cheating on Elin Nordegren. This week, CBS reports that Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren have offically divorced. The broken up couple has agreed to share custody of their two children, 3 year old daughter Sam and 19 month old son Charlie. Each parent has finished a four hour parenting course. While the divorce is now official, there is no specifics on the settlement.
The couple filed court documents that stated that their marriage is "irretrievably broken." Elin Nordegren has requested that her name be changed back to her maiden name of Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren.
While court documents indicate that the divorced couple reached a settlement in July, the terms are not yet known. TMZ and celebrity divorce attorney Raoul Felder speculate that it could start at $100 million. The couple had a prenuptial agreement signed, but after all of the mistresses came out of the woodwork, the couple renegotiated a postnuptial agreement.
Since the scandal with Tiger's mistresses, he lost an estimated $18 to $25 million in endorsements. He also spent two months in sex rehab.
It seems that his attempts at rescuing his marriage had failed. The divorced couple released a joint statement that read: "We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future."
While this seems to be a very special scenario involving celebrities, divorces happen in the Canyon state too. If you have questions about prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, divorce settlements, and other legal issues, make sure to call a Phoenix family attorney today.
