Melissa Williams has been charged with child neglect after leaving her sleeping baby at home in order to drop her boyfriend off to work. AZ Family reports that Melissa Williams was pulled over by police for a broken windshield and detained after smelling like marijuana. Police also discovered that the mother was driving without a license. She admitted to police that she left her baby at home so that she can drop her boyfriend to work.
Once she told police that, she was arrested. After her arrest, police went to her apartment in Mesa where they allegedly found marijuana in the baby's bassinet. They claim that the baby's cries could be heard outside the apartment. Sgt. Ed Wessing told AZ Family: "The officers who were there said they could hear the baby screaming from outside the apartment. They made entry and ended up changing and feeding the baby."
The baby is now under the care and custody of Child Protective Services. Melissa Williams has been charged with possession of marijuana, child neglect and driving with a suspended license.
